Australia's data retention bill

We are pleased to announce the President of the Law Institute of Victoria, Ms Katie Miller, has agreed to present to the Society on the topical issue of Australia's proposed data retention laws.

 

As many may know, the Law Institute of Victoria and in particular Ms Miller, have been active advocates in relation to the proposed legislation.

 

But there remains a shroud of mystery about what Australia's data retention laws actually mean and what they may cover.

 

Join us for a presentation by Ms Miller on the proposed data retention laws and the LIV's advocacy concerning these controversial laws.

 

About the presenter

Katie Miller is the current President of the Law Institute of Victoria, having assumed the role on 1 January 2015. Ms Miller has served on the LIV Council since 2010.

 

Ms Miller is an accredited specialist in administrative law and has over 10 years' experience in advising State and Federal Governments in administrative law, professional discipline and regulation and public sector governance and integrity.

 

 Ms Miller is also a member of the Australian Institute of Administrative Law and the Law Council of Australia National Human Rights Committee. Additionally, Ms Miller is a member of the LIV's new privacy committee and identifies privacy protection as one of the key issues facing the modern Australian community.
