The Victorian Society for Computers and the Law (VSCL) invites you to a webinar on Digital Asset Disputes.

Ashurst Strategic Advisory and Global Arbitration Group members Matthew Blycha, Thomas Gaffney and Julian Pipolo will be presenting a webinar on "Digital Asset Disputes" covering:

  • a brief background on digital assets (including cryptocurrencies) as they create and impact legal rights;
  • recent litigation relating to digital assets; and
  • arbitration rules directed at dealing with disputes over digital assets.

The session will address the promising developments in the law as it catches up with these new technologies, and where further advancements are needed.

Matthew Blycha, Partner, Ashurst

Matthew is a partner in Ashurst's Strategic Advisory and Global Arbitration Group. Matthew has extensive experience across a number of jurisdictions in the energy, infrastructure and resources sectors, and his practice involves all forms of dispute resolution, including those arising from new technologies and digitalisation.

Thomas Gaffney, Senior Associate, Ashurst

Thomas is a Senior Associate in the Strategic Advisory Division and Global Arbitration Group, based out of Ashurst's Canberra and Sydney offices. He advises public and private sector clients in relation to legal risk management, including in relation to commercial, digital/cyber and public law issues.

Julian Pipolo, Lawyer, Ashurst

Julian is a lawyer in the Strategic Advisory Division, based out of Ashurst's Canberra and Sydney offices. He advises public sector clients in dispute resolution, including on the prospects and suitability of engaging in arbitration. He has also appeared in administrative tribunals and superior state and federal courts, including the Federal Court, Federal Circuit Court, NSW Supreme Court, and the Administrative Appeals Tribunal.

Julian has also contributed as a writer to the American Bar Association's Law Technology Today, including on topics such as the classification of non-fungible tokens under US securities law and the treatment of cryptocurrencies under US taxation law.
